Abbott Nutrition Pakistan launch Pediatric Nutritional Therapy, the first of its kind in Abbott's world.
This is a unique initiative from Abbott Nutrition Pakistan to enhancing nutritional awareness and nutritional management techniques amongst the Health care providers of Pakistan.
The first program of this series was conducted at Karachi Sheraton on 25th Jan 2007. The program, a half-day session, was tuned to cover nutritional management in outpatient settings in Pakistan. This was followed by similar programs in Lahore & Rawalpindi. The panel of lead trainers of the program included eminent pediatricians with solid academic background from Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Dr. Salahuddin Shaikh, Dr. Sohail Thobani, and Dr. Naseeruddin Mahmood, from Karachi. Dr Prof. Muhammed Tahir, Dr Prof. Humma Arshad and Dr Prof M. Yaqoob Kazi from Lahore; Prof. Dr. Mrs. Akhtar Firdous and Dr. Asma Shabbir, Assist. Prof. Pediatrics from Rawalpindi. The program attracted large participation from all three cities and included some renowned GPs and Pediatricians.
The program comprised of some interesting presentations like: "The ABC of Nutrition", covering the basics of nutrition and the malnutrition scenario. "What to do?" was a unique presentation looking at the varying pictures of malnutrition and importance of interventional nutritional therapies in such a scenario. " Doctor my child does not eat, please help!" a presentation covering children who refuse to eat and how to manage such a situation.
An interactive Workshop session on nutrition evaluation and therapy followed the presentations. A number of doctor and patient service materials were part of the program and included, the CDC growth charts, the Nutritional assessment forms, the growth measuring charts and a caloric table of common foods consumed by children in Pakistan.
